Brunnich's Guillemot

Brunnich's Guillemot (Uria lomvia), Svalbard - Norway

Canon EOS 1D-X, EF70mm-300mm f4-5-6L IS USM Lens, 1/3200 sec, f6.3 ISO 800

Brunnich's Guillemot is one of the most numerous seabirds in the northern hemsiphere. In Svalbard it breeds in dense colonies all over the archipelago with the largest colonies numbering over several 100,000 pairs. On a zodiac excursion from our ship (seen in the background) we photographed this lone Guillemot on a small iceberg.
